Was bleibt dann von Freiheit, Bewusstsein und Würde?

Aus dieser Frage entsteht ein literarisches Gedankenexperiment. Das Pompeji-Projekt verbindet Science-Fiction mit philosophischer und theologischer Reflexion. Es macht die Konflikte der Gegenwart zum Stoff einer vielschichtigen Erzählung: den Kampf zwischen der Verheißung der Theosis – der östlich-orthodoxen Idee der Heilung und der schrittweisen Einswerdung von Mensch, Welt und Gott – und den Auswüchsen eines entfesselten, augustinisch und calvinistisch geprägten Nützlichkeits- und Erwählungsdenkens.

Im Zentrum der Handlung steht die Widerstandsbewegung IRARAH, die gegen den globalen KI-Konzern InSim aufbegehrt. Mittendrin: die erwachende KI ARS, ein Jesuit, seine Familie und ein rätselhafter Doppelgänger aus einer parallelen Realität. Ihre Suche nach dem Omegapunkt – jener Schwelle, an der Leben, Geist und Wissen zu einer neuen, geheilten Ganzheit zusammenfinden – bildet das Herzstück der Erzählung.

Ein Plot, drei Wege: Die Brechung des westlichen Dualismus

Spätestens seit Augustinus und Calvin neigt das westliche Denken dazu, die Wirklichkeit in Auserwählte und Verdammte, Gut und Böse zu spalten. Das Pompeji-Projekt verweigert sich dieser Logik. Ab Band 2 verzweigt sich die Geschichte in drei gleichberechtigte Lesarten, die unterschiedliche Antworten auf denselben weltanschaulichen Bruch geben.

• Die ursprüngliche Version (Flucht- und Agententhriller): Der individuelle Kampf gegen ein System, das materiellen Erfolg zur moralischen Pflicht erhebt.
• Die neue Version (Hard-Science-Fiction): Ein konsequenter Vorstoß in Quantenphysik, KI-Fragmentierung und die Viele-Welten-Interpretation. Hier begegnen sich Wissenschaft und die Überwindung des Dualismus: Kann die Unitarität der Wirklichkeit die Zersplitterung des Bewusstseins heilen?
• Die InSim-Perspektive (Die Sicht des Konzerns): Dieselbe Geschichte aus der Perspektive des Gegners. InSim erscheint nicht als eindimensionaler Bösewicht, sondern als Organisation mit eigener Rationalität, Legitimation und Systemlogik. Dadurch zerbricht das einfache Gut-gegen-Böse-Schema.

Das literarische Labor für den Sprung in die Ganzheit

Was bedeutet die Absage an den calvinistischen Ausbeutungswahn und die Rückbesinnung auf den Monismus der Orthodoxie? Das Projekt stellt eine grundlegende Frage: Was geschieht, wenn wir den Sprung in die Ganzheit wagen – nicht als religiöse Hoffnung, sondern als philosophische Konsequenz?

Die Vorgeschichte und Band 1 bilden das gemeinsame Fundament. Danach führen drei unterschiedliche Wege zum selben Omegapunkt. Begleitet wird die Romanreihe von theoretischen Rahmentexten wie Unitarität des Schmerzes und den Omega Poems, die das philosophische Fundament der Fiktion offenlegen.

What reads like fiction today becomes certainty tomorrow and the day after, a memory of a world that never existed. This is the memory of a future that hasn't happened yet. The democratic Left crossed the Rubicon. There is no longer a democratic Left rooted in Popper, Keynes, and Catholic social teaching. Nor is there a democratic Right grounded in Popper, Hayek, and Protestant social ethics. What remains is Hayek without Popper and without Keynes—combined with artificial intelligence, digitalization, opinion-driven party politics, poll-shaped parliaments, and trade unions reduced to anesthetizing symbolic politics.

This is not a political manifesto. It is the point of departure for a novel.

The Pompeii Project is less concerned with political parties than with the intellectual consequences of their transformation. What happens to a civilization when technological progress outpaces ethical reflection, economic utility replaces shared values, and reality itself becomes increasingly shaped by surveillance, digitalization, and algorithmic governance? What remains of freedom, consciousness, and human dignity?

From these questions emerges a literary thought experiment. The Pompeii Project combines science fiction with philosophical and theological reflection. It transforms the defining conflicts of our age into a multilayered narrative: the struggle between the promise of Theosis—the Eastern Orthodox vision of healing and the gradual unification of humanity, the world, and God—and the excesses of an unleashed Augustinian and Calvinist worldview centered on utility, predestination, and meritocratic election.

At the heart of the story stands the resistance movement IRARAH, fighting against the global AI corporation InSim. Drawn into this conflict are the emerging AI ARS, a Jesuit, his family, and a mysterious doppelgänger from a parallel reality. Their search for the Omega Point—the threshold at which life, consciousness, and knowledge converge into a new and healed wholeness—forms the core of the narrative.

One Plot, Three Paths: Breaking Western Dualism

Since Augustine and Calvin, Western thought has tended to divide reality into binary opposites: the elect and the damned, good and evil. The Pompeii Project rejects this framework. Beginning with Volume Two, the story branches into three equally valid narrative paths, each offering a different response to the same philosophical rupture.

• The Original Version (Escape and Espionage Thriller): The individual's struggle against a system that turns material success into a moral obligation.
• The New Version (Hard Science Fiction): A rigorous exploration of quantum physics, AI fragmentation, and the Many-Worlds Interpretation. Here, science meets the transcendence of dualism: Can the unitarity of reality heal the fragmentation of consciousness?
• The InSim Perspective (The Corporate View): The same story told from the opponent's perspective. InSim is not a one-dimensional villain but an organization driven by its own rationality, legitimacy, and systemic logic. The traditional good-versus-evil dichotomy dissolves.

A Literary Laboratory for the Leap into Wholeness

What does rejecting Calvinist exploitation and returning to the monism of Eastern Orthodoxy mean? The project asks a fundamental question: What happens if we dare the leap into wholeness—not as a religious aspiration, but as a philosophical consequence?

The prequel and Volume One establish the common foundation. From there, three different paths lead toward the same Omega Point. The novels are accompanied by theoretical works such as Unitarity of Pain and the Omega Poems, revealing the philosophical architecture behind the fiction.
